The Iolgo ( Russian Иолго ) is a mountain range in the northern Altai Mountains in the Russian Altai Republic .
The Iolgo ridge runs for about 90 km in the NNW-SSE direction and forms the watershed between the two Ob source rivers Bija in the east and Katun in the west. The highest elevation is the 2615 m high Albagan . The mountains consist of limestone , sandstone , mica schist from the lower Paleozoic as well as tuff from the middle Paleozoic and granite . The Iolgo has the character of a low mountain range . A taiga of spruce and Siberian stone pines dominates the eastern slopes . In contrast, the western slopes are mainly covered with forests consisting of birch , spruce and larch . Subalpine and alpine vegetation grows above 1700 m . Mountain tundra and gravel surfaces also emerge.
