Ipomoea batatoides a plant is art from the genus of Morningglory ( Ipomoea ) from the family of wind plants (Convolvulaceae). The species is common in America .

description

Ipomoea batatoides is a hairless liana , the stems of which are herbaceous only at the tips, otherwise lignified with age. The leaf blades are broadly ovate to almost circular, 3 to 10 cm long, weakly heart-shaped to cut off at the base, they are pointed towards the front. Both leaf sides are hairless or only indistinctly finely haired, on the underside there are small glands.

The flowering period is between November and March. The inflorescences consist of one to several flowers , they are axillary and zymös . The sepals are elliptical to almost circular, 6 to 8 mm long, almost leathery and spiral. The crown is pale pink to white and 4 to 5 cm long.

The fruits are broadly ovate capsules , stable base of headed pen stands. The seeds are hairy in lumps.

The species is distributed from Mexico across Central America to South America .

Systematics

Within the genus of morning glories ( Ipomoea ), the species is classified in the series Eriospermum of the section Eriospermum in the subgenus of the same name Eriospermum .
