Irène Tunc

Irène Tunc (born September 25, 1934 in Lyon , † January 16, 1972 in Versailles ) was a French actress .

biography

Irene Tunc, whose full name is Irene Pierrette Louise Tunc, was the daughter of a furniture dealer. She was a student at a religious school in Lyon until she was 15.

In the summer of 1953 she was elected Miss Côte d'Azur in Juan-les-Pins . She was best known in her region as a model for local magazines or modeled for fashion magazines in beach and swimwear.

Tunc was voted Miss France in 1954 at the age of 19 at the casino in Évian-les-Bains . In 1954 she began her career as an actress. After two films shot in Italy , she returned to Paris and worked there again as a model. She then attended an acting school under the direction of Françoise Rosay . She played mostly in films by French and Italian directors.

From 1958 to 1964 Tunc was married to the Belgian director Ivan Govar . After the failed marriage, she soon married the filmmaker Alain Cavalier . Irene Tunc died in 1972 at the age of 37 as a result of a car accident.

Others

In 1971 she was one of the 343 women who publicly declared in the 343 Manifesto that she had had an abortion performed and fought against the social devaluation of women who had an abortion.
