Irena Gulzarova

Irena Gulzarova (born April 5, 1982 in Tashkent , Uzbek SSR ) is a Swiss pianist of Uzbek origin.

Life

Irena Gulzarova was born in Tashkent ( Uzbekistan ) in 1982 into a family of musicians. At the age of six she received her first piano lessons. She made her first appearance at the age of 8, and when she was 13 she was on a concert tour in several cities in Germany. During her studies at the Uzbek Academic Music School with Ljudmila Merlmelstein and Alla Kim, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Palma de Mallorca ; This was followed by concert invitations to Spain, Italy, Germany, England, Switzerland, Ukraine and Russia. This was followed by the First Prize and the Audience Prize at the International Piano Competition in Salerno. She continued her musical studies with Marat Gumarov at the Uzbek State University of Music and then with Rudolf Buchbinder at the Music Academy of the City of Basel .

Irena Gulzarova has appeared in Carnegie Hall , the Tonhalle Zurich , the Moscow Conservatory Hall , the Grafenegg Festival , the Oxford International Piano Festival and the Moscow Philharmonic . She works together with the conductors Lawrence Foster , Vladimir Spivakov , Jürg Henneberger, Constantine Orbelian , Dmitrij Kitajenko , Aziz Shokhakimov and Vladimir Neimer . She has given concerts with the Vienna Philharmonic , the Moscow Chamber Orchestra , the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria , the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra , the Basel Symphony Orchestra and the Uzbek Philharmonic Orchestra . Irena Gulzarova performs as a chamber musician with Rudolf Buchbinder , Mischa Maisky , Vadim Repin , Valentin Uryupin and Daniel Hope . From 2020 Irena Gulzarova will be the artistic director of the new music festival Herrliberg Festival in Herrliberg ( Switzerland ).

Irena Gulzarova is married and lives with her husband and a daughter in Herrliberg.

Awards

Irena Gulzarova received the “Golden Talent” award of the Russian Foundation “Russian Art of Interpretation” and “The Best Debut 2014” in the nomination of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
