Irene von Alberti

Irene von Alberti (born January 30, 1963 in Stuttgart ) is a German film director and producer as well as screenwriter . She is a member of the German Film Academy and a member of the jury at various film festivals.

life and work

Irene von Alberti studied media technology in Stuttgart from 1983 to 1988 with a degree in engineering (FH). From 1988 to 1992 she studied at the University of Television and Film Munich . During her studies she worked as a camera assistant and as a camerawoman for feature films.

Together with Frieder Schlaich , she founded the Filmgalerie 451 in 1989 as a film production company and DVD label for arthouse films . She has been working as a film producer, director and screenwriter since 1993. In 2014 she was a member of the pre-selection jury for the German Film Prize , and she is a member of the jury of various film festivals. Irene von Alberti worked as a lecturer at the University of the Arts and the Institute for Time-Based Media in Berlin. She conducted seminars for the Filmarche Berlin and the Hamburg Berlin Film School .

Irene von Alberti is a proponent of the women's quota: “Women make other films. I can really tell you in individual scenes with a hit rate of 90% whether it was done by a woman or a man. I think there are a few criteria for the staging or how the roles are written ”. As a producer, she would like more commitment to art film or artistic film and more contact with the audience .
