Iris Bethge-Krauß , née Bethge (born December 12, 1969 in Dannenberg (Elbe) ) is a German journalist , manager and general manager of the Association of German Public Banks , VÖB, in Berlin .

Career

Iris Bethge-Krauß grew up in Gartow in Wendland , Lower Saxony . She studied medicine for a few semesters without a degree, then volunteered at the Altmark-Zeitung in Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt and worked as an editor. In March 2003, Bethge-Krauss moved to Hanover and became Ursula von der Leyen's first press spokeswoman in the Lower Saxony Ministry for Social Affairs, Women, Family and Health . She also headed the press and public relations department. When von der Leyen became Federal Minister for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth in November 2005 , Bethge-Krauss went with her to Berlin as spokeswoman. There she also took over the management of the press department and - one year later - that of the entire management team with the departments of public relations, ministerial office, cabinet and parliamentary affairs. In this function, Bethge-Krauss also represented the civil servant state secretary.

In June 2009, Bethge-Krauß moved to the Federal Association of German Banks as Managing Director . There she was responsible for the association's communications until June 30, 2017.

In March 2017, Iris Bethge-Krauß was elected General Manager of the Association of German Public Banks , VÖB. She took office on July 1, 2017. At the beginning of June 2017, she was also appointed to the board of the European Association of Public Banks (EAPB) in Brussels.

Iris Bethge-Krauß is active as chairwoman of the advisory board of VÖB-Service GmbH, as a member of the advisory board of the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), as a member of the supervisory board of the initiative Germany - Land of Ideas and as a member of the board of trustees of the Institute for Bank and Financial History eV She is also a mentor at Quadriga University Berlin .
