Iris Mayer (journalist)

Iris Mayer (* 1975 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) is a German journalist . She is the copy editor for the Süddeutsche Zeitung .

Career

Mayer grew up in Karl-Marx-Stadt and studied journalism and political science at the University of Leipzig from 1993 to 1999 . From 1996 to 1997 she completed a traineeship at the Chemnitz daily Freie Presse . She then worked from 2000 to 2002 as a foreign editor for the Associated Press and from 2006 to 2010 as a domestic affairs editor at Focus . From July 2010 to December 2015 Mayer was head of news at dpa and from February 2016 to January 2017 editor-in-chief of Blick , Blick.ch and Blick am Abend . From January 2018 to March 2019, Mayer was deputy editor-in-chief of sueddeutsche.de . Since April 2019 she has been head of the Süddeutsche Zeitung .
