Iris Vermillion
Iris Vermillion (* 1960 in Bielefeld ) is a German opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ).
Life
Iris Vermillion studied flute and singing at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg with Mechthild Böhme and Judith Beckmann . She also attended master classes with Erik Werba , Christa Ludwig and Hermann Prey .
She initially worked at the Braunschweig State Theater and was appointed to the Deutsche Oper Berlin in 1988 by Götz Friedrich . She achieved international success under Nikolaus Harnoncourt in Amsterdam and in 1991 in Richard Strauss ' Capriccio under Horst Stein at the Salzburg Festival . In 2000 she sang Gustav Mahler's Kindertotenlieder at the Salzburg Easter Festival under Kurt Masur .
She worked u. a. with Georg Solti , Daniel Barenboim , Claudio Abbado , Giuseppe Sinopoli , Riccardo Chailly and René Jacobs .
