Martina Iris Wolff (born July 28, 1977 in Sibiu / Transylvania ) is a German writer .

life and work

Iris Wolff grew up in Sibiu and in Semlak / Banat .

In 1985 she emigrated to Germany with her family. She studied German language and literature, religious studies and graphics and painting at the Philipps University of Marburg .

From 2003 to 2013 she worked at the German Literature Archive in Marbach and lectured on art education. From November 2013 to March 2018 she was the coordinator of the Network for Cultural Education in Freiburg.

Iris Wolff, who is a member of the International Exile PEN, primarily writes short stories and novels. In 2012 she made her debut with the novel Halber Stein at Otto Müller Verlag (Salzburg).

In 2013 and 2015 she was a juror for the school writing competition Stiftung Kinderland Baden-Württemberg. In 2018 she gave the literary opening lecture of the International Library Congress in Graz: Poetry as optics that shapes the world. Why reading overcomes boundaries .

Iris Wolff lives in Freiburg im Breisgau.
