The Irish Water Spaniel is an FCI recognized Irish breed of dog ( FCI Group 8, Section 3, Standard No. 124 ).

Origin and history

This breed probably dates back to the time of the French Revolution and is descended from the standard poodle and the Irish setter . Systematic breeding began in 1834 , and in 1862 he was presented at a dog show in Birmingham and officially recognized by the British Kennel Club .
