Elsbeth Johanna Irma Baltuttis (born September 28, 1920 in Leipzig ; † May 20, 1958 there ) was a German pop singer .

Life

Irma Baltuttis was born as the daughter of Ernst Baltuttis, his wife Elsa, née Hamann, in the Leipzig district of Leutzsch . Her parents recognized her musical talent early on and encouraged her musical training.

The Leipzig Radio Dance Orchestra was founded in 1947 under the direction of Kurt Henkels , with Irma Baltuttis becoming a regular singer from 1948. Her singing partners in duets were, among others, Hanns Petersen, Fritz Hemmann and Fred Frohberg , with whom she was able to take first place in the first broadcast of the hit lottery in 1953 with the title Because I love you so much . In addition to event appearances, radio recordings were made, many of which appeared on records on the GDR label Amiga during her ten years with the orchestra . Even though, politically demanded, Soviet titles could not be missing ( Come with me to Saratov ), numerous West German compositions could still be adopted at this time. Recordings with the West Berlin combo Heinz Becker and his soloists were also possible.

In 1950 Irma Baltuttis married Max Herricht, a doctor who later served in the National People's Army . In 1958, Irma Baltuttis died at the age of 37 when she fell out of a window. The details of her death have not been clarified. She was buried in the Südfriedhof in Leipzig. The tomb was closed in 1998.
