Irma Poeckler

Irma Pöckler (* 1919 in Jena ; † November 7, 2007 in Ahnatal - Heckershausen ) was a German often voluntary worker, mainly in senior advisory councils in Hesse. She received various honors for her work.

Life

Irma Pöckler worked as a retail saleswoman and came to Kassel in 1947. During her professional life she was involved in the textile clothing union and was a works councilor .

In 1981 she was elected to the senior citizens ' advisory board of Kassel, where she had already worked together with Bertram Hilgen on drawing up the first statutes . From 1985 to 1997 she was its chairman. Also in 1985 she was one of the founding members of the "Working Group of the Hessian Senior Citizens 'Advisory Councils", from which the Hessian state seniors' representation later emerged. In this she was deputy chairwoman until 1997.

She was also the chairwoman of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt -Ortsverein Rothenditmold at the municipal level . She visited old people's and nursing homes and was particularly committed to socially disadvantaged seniors. She was particularly concerned with improving the living situation in old age, expanding outpatient services, improving public transport and expanding the range of cultural events for older people.

The Kassel Greens wrote in an obituary for Pöckler that “as a woman from the very beginning, they had a decisive influence on the senior citizens' advisory board of the city of Kassel and thus also on a policy for Kassel that also has older and disadvantaged people in view. You can feel this commitment in many places in Kassel today ”.
