Irmena Chichikova ( Bulgarian Ирмена Чичикова ; born May 22, 1984 in Plovdiv ) is a Bulgarian film, television and theater actress .

Career

education

Chichikova attended the French-language school Antoine de Saint Exupéry in Plovdiv and graduated in 2003 before starting her training in Sofia at the National Academy of Theater and Film Arts “Krastjo Sarafow” under the direction of Margarita Mladenowa and Ivan Dobchev . She also studied modern Greek . She received her acting diploma in 2008 for her participation in the diploma productions Drei Schwestern by Anton Chekhov directed by Margarita Mladenowa and for Dakota by Jordi Galceran (directed by Stilian Petrow). Since graduating, she has been working as a freelance actress.

Chichikova made his debut in 2008 in The Art of Sweeping Things Under the Rug (in the Swedish original: Konsten att sopa under mattan ), which is based on the 2nd part of Ingmar Bergman's originally 6-part television series Scenes of a Marriage . In 2009 she received a nomination for the ICAR Theater Award for portraying the lawyer Marianne in this play and was awarded the ASKEER Theater Award for the best female leading role. In 2010, Chichikova appeared in her first feature film The Glass River (2010). In 2012 she had her first lead role in the film I Am You , for which she received positive reviews and won the Golden Rose award. In 2014 she played the role of Borjana in the film Viktoria , which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival . The film is set in the time of communism in Bulgaria and is a mixture of satire, surrealism and drama. He accompanies Viktoria and her mother Borjana and at the same time deals with Bulgaria's social and cultural transition from communism to democracy. The following year Chichikova starred in Sound Hunters . In 2018 she appeared in Adina Pintilie's semi-documentary experimental film Touch Me Not , which won the Golden Bear at the 68th Berlinale .

Others

In 2011 she hosted the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Association of Bulgarian Artists and the ICAR Theater Awards. She started her first photo exhibition, Postidentity by Liliana Karadjova, in 2010. Since 2007 she has also been a model for the fashion designer Neli Miteva .
