Iron Fire is a true metal / power metal band from Copenhagen that was founded in 1997 by Martin Steene and Kristian H. Martinsen. In terms of text, the band deals with topics such as fantasy , mystical sagas or Nordic mythology . However, there are also clear influences of True Metal , so many songs deal with topics such as fights, honor, fictional kingdoms or glorious battles.

history

Iron Fire recorded its beginnings in Steenes' school days. During this time the band went through some big changes, both in genres and in band names. Initially intended as a heavy metal / hard rock band called “Misery”, the band developed stylistically in the direction of Doom Metal and changed their name to “Decades of Darkness”. After that the band became more aggressive in their music and developed towards a mix of Melodic Death Metal and Black Metal . Martin Steene wanted to go back to the beginning, whereupon the band decided to adopt Power and Speed Metal and rename themselves "Iron Fire".

Since Steene didn't think it was enough to only play covers, he began to write his own material for the project band. The breakthrough for Iron Fire finally began in 1998 when the band recorded a demo CD, which shortly after received only positive reviews from Scandinavia and ultimately from all over Europe . Then they signed a contract with the German label Noise Records . After working with producer Tommy Hansen, the album Thunderstorm was released in 2000 .

A short time later, the band separated from their guitarist Kristian Iversen and their drummer Gunnar Olsen. The latter could be replaced by Morten Plenge, drummer for the bands Coitus Interruptus and Push. With him they recorded the album On the Edge , released in March 2001 , which was torn up by the media. Relatively bad ratings and reviews were reasons for Kristian Martinsen (guitar) and Jakob Lykkebo (bass) to leave the band. In addition, Morten Plenge was eliminated immediately due to problems with his wrists. Steene found new band members in Martin Slott (guitar) and Steve Mason (drums), but had to take over the bass himself while he sang because no replacement could be found. The next demo CD could not convince the label, which ultimately led to the fact that the contract with Iron Fire was terminated. Then the guitarist Søren Jensen and the bassist José Cruz joined the band. The vocals on the demo have been rerecorded and some new songs have been added. Drums, bass and guitars were recorded in Søren Jensen's studio “Niflheim”, the vocals, keyboards and lead guitars in Martin Steene's studio “HellFire”. A week after the demo CD was finished, Søren Jensen left the band because it had developed in the wrong direction. A replacement was quickly found in Jeff Lukka. After a few concerts, Steene and Andersen split from the rest of the band due to differences of opinion. The resigned musicians founded the band Blinded by Fear , Steene and Andersen spent the next six months writing songs and looking for new musicians - which they also found in Martin Sunddal (drums) and Martin Slott (guitar).

After a few more departures, one could finally sign a contract with Napalm Records and bring the album Revenge onto the market. In 2007 their fourth studio album Blade of Triumph was released - both albums were received more positively and better rated. In August 2007 Jens B. left the band for family reasons, he was replaced by Fritz Wagner. In January 2008 Johan Jacob Høvring Olsen left the band, as he was now more drawn to jazz , a replacement was found on January 12, 2009, three days after the European release of the album To the Grave .

In October 2010 the album Metalmorphosized was released, and in January 2012 the eighth studio album Voyage of the Damned followed .
