Isaac Bentham (born October 27, 1886 in Wigan , England , † May 15, 1917 in Arras , France ) was a British water polo player.
Together with Charles Sydney Smith , George Cornet , George Wilkinson , Charles Bugbee , Paul Radmilovic and Arthur Edwin Hill , he took part in the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm and was able to win the gold medal. In Stockholm they won the games in the final round with 8: 0 against Austria and 6: 3 against Sweden, which ultimately came in second.
Bentham is just one of two of the 1912 gold medalists who only won one tournament. While the other, Arthur Edwin Hill, was not included in the Olympic tournaments where Great Britain was still victorious, Bentham could not participate in any other tournament after 1912, as he fell on the front lines in France in 1917.
