Isaac P. Walker

Isaac Pigeon Walker (* 2. November 1815 in Wheeling , Virginia , now West Virginia ; † 29. March 1872 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party . From 1848 to 1855 he sat for the US state of Wisconsin in the US Senate .

biography

Walker was born in what was then Virginia. He and his family moved to Illinois in 1825, where he worked as a lawyer in Springfield . He served one term in the Illinois House of Representatives . In 1841 he moved to Wisconsin. In Milwaukee he settled again to work as a lawyer. In 1848, when Wisconsin became a state, he was the first senator, alongside Henry Dodge , to serve on the federal senate. In 1855 he left again.

In 1872 he died in Milwaukee, where he was also buried. His brother George H. Walker was two mayors of Milwaukee.
