Isaak Steiger

Isaak Steiger (born March 7, 1669 in Aarburg ; † December 20, 1749 ) was mayor of Bern .

Isaak Steiger was born as the son of Hans Anton Steiger, commandant of Aarburg , and Maria von Diesbach. In 1701 he became a member of the Bernese Grand Council, served from 1705 to 1711 as Obervogt zu Schenkenberg , from 1720 as a member of the Small Council and from 1725 to 1729 as Venner zu Gerwern. From 1719 to 1722 he was Herr zu Gerzensee . From 1729 to 1732 he was Deutschseckelmeister and, from 1732, alternately Schultheiss von Bern. In 1749, as governor of the ruling mayor, he conducted the investigation into the so-called Henzi conspiracy .
