Isabelle Konrad

Isabelle Konrad [ iza'bɛl 'kɔnra: t ] (born March 23, 1998 in Weißenhorn , Bavaria ) is a German film director , screenwriter and media artist .

In her work, she deals with socially critical issues and addresses them through targeted provocations. Manipulation, irony and surreal pictorial motifs are part of her artistic signature. Since October 2017 she has been a student of media art at the Karlsruhe University of Design .

Life

Isabelle Konrad was born in 1998 in Weißenhorn, Bavaria. She attended the technical high school for media technology and design at the Ferdinand von Steinbeis School in Ulm. But already in elementary school she wrote her first scripts and made cartoons . She began to be interested in working with cameras and photography at an early age and also developed her fascination for the medium of film .

In her first exhibition “Foreign World” at the Weißenhorn Kulturnacht 2014, she showed surreal and gloomy pictures to texts by Edgar Allan Poe . For her exhibition, at the time of which she was only 16 years old, she received mostly positive feedback, so that Isabelle Konrad was regularly represented at the culture night in the following years.

When she was 17 she worked as a director on her own project for the first time. With the help of friends and acquaintances, she made the experimental film The Freakshow . The film won the special prize of the 14th Swabian Jufinale in 2015. After that, Isabelle Konrad made the decision to continue working as a director on films in the future.
