Isaiah Morgan

Isaiah Morgan (born April 7, 1897 in Bertrandville , Louisiana , † May 11, 1966 ) was an American cornetist and band leader of hot jazz .

Live and act

Isaiah Morgan came from a musical family in New Orleans. His brothers were also active as musicians ( Sam Morgan as trumpeter, Andrew as clarinetist, Al Morgan as double bass player and tuba player). In 1922 he founded the Young Morgan Band , from which the Sam Morgan's Jazz Band emerged , led by his brother Sam with Andrew Morgan on woodwind instruments . Recordings were made in 1927 for Columbia Records in a session in Werlein's Music Store . After Sam Morgan's stroke in 1932, Isaiah took over the band, which performed in the Gulf of Mexico around Biloxi until the 1950s . In 1955 the live album Dance Hall Days, Vol. 1 was created ; the following year he retired from the music business.
