Isztimér ( German : Eßzimmer , Stimmersdorf im Buchenwald ) is a municipality in the northwest of Fejér County in Hungary .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1193. Isztimér was given the rank of a market town .

Isztimér has had a German minority self-government since 1998.

Community partnerships

  • In 1997 an official partnership agreement was signed with the German municipality of Krauchenwies . However, contacts have existed since 1993 and are intensively maintained through alternating visits, for example to the two fire departments .
  • Another partnership exists with the Slovak town of Madar. This is reminiscent of the resettlement in 1948, when many families were relocated from here to Isztimér.

Culture and sights

The interior of the Catholic Church of Isztimér has renovated frescoes, the statue of St. Florian and the Calvary from the 18th century.

Honorary citizen

  • Heinz Schöllhammer, then acting mayor of the partner municipality Krauchenwies, was made an honorary citizen of Isztimér in June 1999.
