history
The area has been considered inhabited since the Stone Age . The first written mention comes from the year 1193. The photo shows the castle built in 1839. On a hill above the settlement there is a way of the cross from 1736, which offers a good view of the surroundings.
Bodajk is one of the oldest places of grace in Hungary. Some historians believe that its healing spring was honored as early as the 19th century. According to the legend, there were Saint Stephen, Saint Imre, Saint Gellért and Saint László here. In the Middle Ages it was a royal property, later it belonged to the Krezrittet of Fehérvár, the Rozgonyi and Nádasdy family. After the fall in 1543, it came under Turkish rule until the 18th century. To the east of the Way of the Cross is the classicist Hochburg-Lamberg Castle, built in 1839.
