Iván Patachich

Iván Patachich [ ˈivaːn ˈpɒtɒʧiʧ ] (born June 3, 1922 in Budapest ; † May 9, 1993 ibid) was a Hungarian composer .

Life

He studied at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest from 1941 to 1947 - composition with Albert Siklós , János Viski and Ferenc Szabó and conducting with János Ferencsik .

First he worked as a conductor of theater orchestras, the State Opera Orchestra (1943–1947) as well as the orchestra of the Lustige Oper (1947–1948) and the Madách Theater (1951–1952). In 1952 he became music director at the Hungarian film studio Mafilm . He held this post until 1987.

He composed around 200 film music works. His oeuvre also includes two operas and three ballets . From 1958 he also turned to electronic music . In addition, he experimented in studios in Bratislava , Budapest , Stockholm , Stuttgart , Utrecht and New York . He won two prizes in Bourges in 1978 and 1984 in this area.
