Ivan Fuček

Ivan Fuček SJ (born July 1, 1926 in Đurđevac , Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes ; † January 12, 2020 in Zagreb ) was a Yugoslav or Croatian Roman Catholic priest , theologian and author .

Life

Ivan Fuček belonged to the religious order of the Jesuits , and taught at the Catholic Theological Faculty in Zagreb ( Katoličkom bogoslovnom fakultetu (CBF)) and at the Institute of Philosophy and Theology of the Society of Jesus ( Filozofsko-teološkom institutu družbe Isusove (FTI)). Since 1980 he has taught moral theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He was a member of the International Theological Commission (1980–1985), the Bioethical Center of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan and various professional associations and commissions. He also worked as a theologian for the Apostolic Penitentiary from 1995 to 2010 .

He was the author of 27 books and several 100 scientific articles. A series of ten books on the moral-spiritual life (2003-2010), which presents Christian morality and asceticism in a pastoral and understandable way, deserves special mention.

The Croatian President Franjo Tuđman honored him with the Order of Merit in 1998 . Since 2010 he was an honorary citizen of his hometown Đurđevac.
