Ivan Quaranta

Ivan Quaranta (born December 14, 1974 in Crema ) is a former Italian cyclist .

Ivan Quaranta became Junior World Champion in sprint on the track in 1992 . In the following years he shifted increasingly to road cycling . He signed his first contract in 1996 with the Italian cycling team Polti . After two unsuccessful years, he moved to KRKA-Telekom Slovenije in 1998 , where he was able to win one stage of the Normandy Tour . He then switched to Mobilvetta Design , where he won two stages at the Giro d'Italia in two years . Also in 2001 he was twice victorious for Alexia Alluminio at the Giro. A year later he celebrated his only success so far in a one-day race at Quer durch Gendringen . In 2003 Quaranta switched to Saeco for one season , where he won a stage on the Germany Tour and the Tour of Qatar, among other things .

In the following years Quaranta drove for various smaller teams. From 2000 he made his comeback on the track and competed in several six-day races . In 2001 he won the six days of Turin and Fiorenzuola d'Arda with Marco Villa , in 2002 and 2004 further victories with Villa followed in Turin. In 2007 he became Italian champion in the team sprint , together with Roberto Chiappa and Marco Brossi . In the same year, Ivan Quaranta ended his cycling career.
