Ivar Lindell

Ivar Lindell (born May 19, 1940 in Buenos Aires ; † June 3, 2020 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish jazz musician ( double bass ).

Lindell grew up in Västerås and initially played with local musicians. Then he and Sven-Åke Johansson belonged to the trio of Bobo Stenson , who formed the rhythm section of the Gunnar Fors quartet between 1964 and 1966 , which had long guest appearances at the Paris jazz club Le Chat qui pêche and in Barcelona, ​​and with whom he also recorded. With the group he also performed the experimental joint work Alphaville in Sweden , in which musical theater effects were used.

In the early 1970s he was a member of Jan Wallgren's quintet and the Wallgrens Orkester, with whom he also appeared in Central Europe (documented at the festival in the Balver cave ). From 1978 he worked with Christer Boustedt until his death in 1986. This formation then resulted in the Contemporary Bebop Quintet , which continued to tour successfully. In 2004 there were again performances with Bobo Stenson and Sven-Åke Johansson. He also accompanied the singer Tessan Milveden at the Stockholm Jazz Festival . He can also be heard on albums with Lasse Werner , Nisse Sandström , Sune Spangberg and Viacheslav Preobrazhenski .
