Christer Boustedt

Christer Boustedt (born March 21, 1939 in Bromma ; † September 4, 1986 in Alfta , Ovanåker ) was a Swedish jazz musician ( alto saxophone ), who was also known as an actor .

Life

Boustedt played with George Russell ( The Essence of George Russell ) in the late 1960s , then joined the bands of Gugge Hedrenius and Lasse Werner . In Ninne Olsson's film Sven Klangs kvintet (1976) he was the main actor and played the head of a dance combo in the 1950s. It was not until the 1980s that he appeared with his own group that specialized in neobop . He was awarded the Gyllene Skivan for his album Plays Thelonious Monk . He has also written the music for some Swedish films such as Lyftet (1978), Den enes död (1980) or Sista budet (1981) and for television series. It was posthumously recognized as the Legend of Jazz by Django d'Or in 2008 .

The Christer Boustedt Award was named after him and is given to young Swedish jazz musicians.
