Coordinates: 61 ° 22 ′  N , 15 ° 54 ′  O Ovanåker is a municipality ( Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Gävleborgs län and the historic province of Hälsingland . The main town of the municipality is Edsbyn . The Orsa – Bollnäs railway runs through the municipality.

geography

The community is located in the foothills of the Scandinavian Mountains . It is a slightly undulating, forest-covered area that rises to the north. The river Voxnan and its tributary Gryckån flow in meanders through the municipality. There are several rapids in the undeveloped parts of the river.

economy

The woodworking industry dominates in Ovanåker municipality. Important industrial locations are Edsbyn , Alfta and Viksjöfors .
