Coordinates: 61 ° 21 ′ N , 16 ° 24 ′ E Bollnäs is a municipality ( Swedish commun ) in the Swedish province of Gävleborgs län and the historic province of Hälsingland . The main town of the municipality is Bollnäs .
The main traffic routes Reichsstraße 83 in north-south direction and Reichsstraße 50 (called Bergslag diagonalen ) in west-east direction and the main railway line Stockholm - Ånge ( Norra stambanan ) run through the municipality .
geography
The municipality extends partly along the Ljusnan River for about 70 kilometers from north to south. It lies in the foothills of the Scandinavian Mountains . Forest-covered heights alternate with agricultural plains. In the south of the municipality, the Swedish mountainous region begins with a valley called "Norrlands porten" (Nordlandstor or Gate of the North)
history
Bollnäs was first mentioned in 1312 by a vicar named Ingemund, who called the place Baldenaes . Bollnäs received town charter in 1942 when the towns of Bollnäs and Björkhamre merged into one town. The municipality received its current size with the territorial reform in 1974, when the city of Bollnäs was merged with three smaller municipalities.
economy
Agriculture and forestry play an important role in some parts of the municipality. The municipality is only weakly industrialized with industrial sites in Arbrå, Bollnäs and Kilafors. In contrast, the service sector is well developed.
