Powerstar I 1999-2009
The Powerstar was developed on the basis of the Iveco EuroTech and received both European and American engines. In addition to the European Iveco engines, the Powerstar also used the Detroit Diesel Series 60, Cummins Engine ISM, ISX and Caterpillar C12 and C15. The Iveco ZF- Eurotronic, Eaton Corporation Roadranger and Autoshift were used as transmissions . The PowerStar was cheaper than the US competitors available in Australia and South America . Just like this, the Powerstar as a road train could achieve a total weight of up to 120 tons. The Powerstar I was also assembled in Argentina for the South American market between 1999 and 2005 .
Iveco PowerStar II version ISX since 2009
The new version of the Powerstar was based on the Iveco Stralis . When it was launched, it won the 2010 Truck of the Year Australia award . Available with engines from 357 kW (485 hp) to 405 kW (550 hp), it has a 2,000 liter tank in series to provide a range for crossing the desert from Melbourne to Darwin and the route between Sydney and Perth , 4,000 km long to ensure. It is now a standard Australian truck with a gross weight of 90 tons and a length of 26 meters. At first, North American drive trains were not available, only the Iveco Cursor engines with the EuroTronic II transmission. From 2010 the Cummins Engine ISX motor coupled with the EuroTronic II 16-speed gearbox was offered, which significantly increased sales of the current Powerstar. The current model has been assembled in CKD kit fashion in Brazil for the South American market since 2011 . Construction and sales in North America are also planned .
