Iwan Rickenbacher (born August 10, 1943 ) is a Swiss communications consultant .

Life

Iwan Rickenbacher comes from a working-class family. His father was an armory worker and politically active as a Christian Socialist . His mother was from Ticino , and until kindergarten Rickenbacher spoke only Italian .

After compulsory schooling and the teachers' seminar , Rickenbacher worked as a primary school teacher for three years. He then studied education and a PhD from the University of Freiburg to the Dr. phil. From 1975 to 1988 he was head of the teachers' college in the canton of Schwyz .

Rickenbacher was politically active in the Christian Democratic People's Party (CVP). In 1987 he was defeated in the National Council elections , from 1988 to 1992 he was Secretary General of the CVP.

He has been working as a communications consultant since 1992. In December 1999 he also became honorary professor at the University of Bern in the field of political science , where he also lectures. Iwan Rickenbacher has been on the Tamedia Board of Directors since 1996 and on the Board of Trustees of Schweizer Berghilfe since 2005 . He also presides over the board of trustees of the media training center (MAZ) in Lucerne .
