Iwaniw ( Ukrainian Іванів ; Russian Иванов Iwanow , Polish Janów ) is a village in the north of the Ukrainian Odessa Oblast with about 4600 inhabitants (2001).
Iwaniw is the administrative center of the 7.767 km² district council of the same name in the west of Kalyniwka Rajon , to which the village of Slobidka ( Слобідка , ⊙ ) with about 780 inhabitants belongs.
Geographical location
The village in Podolia is located 18 km west of the district center Kalynivka at the mouth of the 58 km long Snywoda ( Снивода ) in the Southern Bug . Territorial road T – 02–19 runs south of the village . The Oblastzentrum Vinnytsia is located about 43 km south of the village.
history
The village was first mentioned in writing in 1537 and received Magdeburg city charter in 1578 . According to the history of cities and villages of the Ukrainian SSR , the village was first mentioned in writing in 1703.
