Ján Kozák (born April 22, 1980 in Košice ) is a former Slovak football player .

Club career

Ján Kozák mladší began playing football at Lokomotíva Košice , in 1996 he moved to 1. FC Košice , for whom he made his debut in 1997 in the Corgoň league . In the 1999/2000 season, the midfielder was loaned to the Belgian first division club KSC Lokeren . In the summer of 2000 the Slovak went to the Czech Gambrinus League and joined Slavia Prague . For Slavia Kozák completed 13 games in two years, then he returned for a season on loan to 1. FC Košice.

In mid-2003 he signed a contract with FC Petržalka 1898 , with which he was able to celebrate the Slovak championship title in 2005. In the 2005/06 season Artmedia managed to move into the group stage of the UEFA Champions League , in which Kozák scored two goals, both times to equalize 2-2 against FC Porto and Glasgow Rangers, respectively . In January 2006, the Slovak was loaned to West Bromwich Albion and came to six appearances in the English Premier League .

For the 2006/07 season he returned to Bratislava and led Artmedia in the 2007/08 season as team captain to the double of championship and cup . In January 2009 he left Artmedia and joined the city rival ŠK Slovan Bratislava , with whom he won the title of national champion in May 2009. Since January 2014 he has been under contract with the Austrian fifth division club DSG Union Perg.

National team

Kozák was a regular member of the Slovak national team between 2005 and 2010 . His last game was the game at the 2010 World Cup against Paraguay on June 20, 2010.
