history

The place is first mentioned as a desolate village Gotzekou , when Margrave Friedrich the Younger confirmed the ownership of the Neuendorf monastery in Salzwedel in December 1457. In 1573 it is called Gosekow , in 1779 on a map the Gäsekau Busch, desert field Gäsekau and in 1820 Gäskau . Danneil reported in 1859 about the ruins of a former church in the former village, which was south of Luthäne.

In the 19th century, the Jäskau sub-forestry was built on the old corridor, but it was soon closed again. Later a jug was made there, which also died again. At the end of the 19th century, a brick factory was built in the north-west of the village. In 1873 the place was also called Gäskau , after 1909 only Jäskau.
