Jörg Leist

Jörg Leist (born May 13, 1935 in Rottweil ) is a Baden-Württemberg local politician . From 1968 to 2001 he was Lord Mayor of the city of Wangen im Allgäu .

Life

Jörg Leist is a grandson of the center - and CDU politician Josef Andre . He studied law at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen and at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . Leist was awarded a doctorate in 1962 with the work "Reichsstadt Rottweil - Studies on City and Court Constitution until 1546". jur. PhD. He is a member of the Catholic student union K.St.V. Rechberg Tubingen.

Act

Leist's term of office included the renovation of the historic center of Wangen ( ensemble protection since 1976), the establishment of the pedestrian zone, the new construction of the Wangen district hospital, which is now part of the Oberschwabenklinik , as well as the establishment of town partnerships with La Garenne-Colombes in France and Prato in Italy. In 1972 he was one of the initiators of the association for the youth music school in the Württemberg Allgäu, which now has 2,100 students. In 1993 he was a co-founder and is to this day the first chairman of the AG Heimatpflege in the Württemberg region of Allgäu. He was a co-founder and long-time chairman of the support group for the preservation of Achberg Castle . Since 1983, Leist has been the first chairman of the non-profit Oskar and Elisabeth Farny Foundation founded by Oskar Farny with the foundation's own edelweiss brewery Oskar Farny . In 2012 he was awarded the home medal of the state of Baden-Württemberg . In 2015 he became an honorary citizen of Wangen.
