Jörg Ritter (conductor)

Jörg Ritter (* 1966 in Leverkusen ) is a German cultural manager , choir director and university music director .

Live and act

Jörg Ritter directed the WDR Radio Choir Cologne from 2004 to 2008 and worked as a conductor a. a. at the Lisbon State Opera . In 2008, he accepted the call as visiting professor at the chair for choir and orchestral conducting at Indiana University in Bloomington, which was followed by further teaching activities in Yale , Boston and Cologne . In addition, he often worked with ensembles such as the NDR choir , the SWR vocal ensemble , the BBC singers and orchestras such as the Cologne Gürzenich Orchestra and the orchestras of the WDR. In addition, he has directed major choral works for conductors such as Claudio Abbado , Semyon Bychkov , Sir Neville Marriner , Sir Roger Norrington and Michael Gielen .

In 2010 Jörg Ritter premiered Adriana Hölszky's opera Hybris at the Lisbon State Opera in cooperation with the Schwetzingen Festival .

From 2011 to 2012, Ritter was artistic manager of the Bochum Symphony Orchestra . In 2012 he became artistic director of the Bern Chamber Choir . Since summer 2014 he has been University Music Director at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . There he is artistic director of the Music and Dance Forum and leads diverse ensembles such as Campus Brass, VocalCluster, Univox and the chamber orchestra of the University of Bonn.

He had guest appearances at festivals in the Rheingau, Dresden, the Cologne Triennale and guest appearances at Carnegie Hall .
