Jörg Thiede

Jörg Detlef Thiede (born April 28, 1938 in Berlin ) is a German economist, entrepreneur and patron.

Thiede graduated from the Free University of Berlin with a doctorate in business administration in 1968 . He later received his habilitation and was a university professor for systems analysis . He worked as a management consultant in Berlin and also founded a publishing house for teaching and learning software with around one hundred employees.

Benefactor

In 1998 Jörg Thiede and his wife Traute founded the non-profit Dr. Jörg Thiede Foundation . The primary purpose of the foundation is the professional promotion of disadvantaged young people in connection with the renovation of listed buildings in the states of Berlin and Brandenburg . After several completed projects, in 2004 the Thiede family acquired Villa Hamspohn, which had previously been used by a sports club and had been vacant for several years, right next to the Liebermann Villa on Wannsee , both works by the architect Paul Baumgarten .

After extensive renovation, Villa Thiede was opened as a private art collection and cultural site in 2006, one hundred years after its construction . In the art salon you can find works by Liebermann , Leistikow , Skarbina , Hagemeister , Saltzmann and others, in the sculpture garden sculptures by Gaul , Heiliger and others. The house also offers space for a variety of events in a cultural environment.

The charitable foundation was dissolved in 2013. The extensive art collection of 95 paintings and drawings with a focus on works by artists from the Berlin Secession and its predecessor organization Vereinigung der XI was donated to the Berlinische Galerie at the beginning of 2014 . This includes works by Max Liebermann , Anton von Werner , Walter Leistikow , Lesser Ury , Franz Skarbina , Julie Wolfthorn and Carl Saltzmann .
