Jørpeland is a town in the municipality beach in the Fylke (Province) Rogaland in the south of Norway . Jørpeland is about 20 km east of Stavanger and has around 7,200 inhabitants. The city received city status on April 1, 1998 and is the administrative center of the municipality.

Jørpeland is located in Ryfylke by the Idsefjord, at the mouth of the Jørpelandsåna . In front of the city in the Idsefjord are the two uninhabited islands of Fjellsholmen and Jørpelandsholmen . The highest point in the city is the Førlandsnuten at 520 meters . The three lakes Åsvatnet , Regnarvatnet and Svortingsvatnet are the three largest lakes in the immediate vicinity of the city. The Lysefjord is located southeast of Jørpeland.

Attractions

The old wood and furniture factory Jørpeland Brug from 1833, as well as the rock carvings by Solbakk , with almost 40 ship drawings from the Bronze Age , are among the sights in the village. The Lysefjord, with the Pulpit Rock and Kjerag, is also a destination for tourists.

Jørpeland is located on federal road 13, which has been expanded to become a national tourist route. Regular buses run to the neighboring town of Tau . Express ships run to Stavanger twice a day. Alternatively, you can reach Stavanger via the car ferry from Tau. The city also has a charging station where electric cars can be charged.
