Jewish cemetery (Bisses)

The Bisses Jewish Cemetery is a cemetery in the Bisses district of the Echzell municipality in the Wetterau district in Hesse .

The Jewish cemetery is located on the eastern outskirts, north on Georgenstrasse, about 200 meters east of the church or the Christian cemetery. There is no information about the exact number of tombstones .

history

There is no information about the age of the cemetery, which was occupied until the 1860s. After a synagogue was built in Echzell in 1863/64 and the seat of the Jewish community was relocated to Echzell, a Jewish cemetery was established there and the cemetery in Bisses was no longer occupied.

The last burial took place for the couple Moritz Fettmann and Mathilde Fettmann, née Pike from Berstadt . They committed suicide on the evening of December 22, 1938 and were buried "anonymously". There is no tombstone.
