The Jewish cemetery Laupheim is a Jewish cemetery in Laupheim , a town in the Biberach district in Baden-Württemberg . The cemetery is a protected cultural monument and is located on the Judenberg .

history

The Jewish community of Laupheim laid out the cemetery after 1730 and expanded it several times. Today it has an area of ​​46.27 acres and survived the National Socialist era almost unscathed. The first burial took place in 1732 and after 1945 the cemetery was occupied several times (1983 funeral of Siegfried Einstein ). Today there are still 916 tombstones ( mazewot ). The first morgue ( Tahara House ) was built in 1822 and replaced by a new building in 1907.

In 1984 a memorial plaque was placed at the entrance to the Jewish cemetery listing the names of 100 Jewish citizens from Laupheim who were murdered during the Nazi persecution.
