The Paderborn Jewish Cemetery is located in the city of Paderborn in the Paderborn district in North Rhine-Westphalia . As a Jewish cemetery , it is a listed building and has been entered in the list of monuments under monument number 20 since November 29, 1983 . Over 150 tombstones have been preserved at the Warburger Straße 110 cemetery, which was occupied from around 1887 to 1938 and has been used again since 1945 .

Older Jewish cemeteries without tombstones

There are no more gravestones in the three former cemeteries mentioned below in the area of ​​the city of Paderborn:

  • The so-called Old Cemetery , which was presumably located at the southern entrance of Padergasse not far from the old Paderborn synagogue on Liboriberg, was occupied from 1728 to around 1800. After 1800 the cemetery grounds were included in the design of the promenade .
  • The Am Hilligenbusch cemetery was occupied in the 19th century and existed until 1925. In 1930, the synagogue community sold the burial site to the city of Paderborn with the stipulation that the property would not be built on. Today there is a green area there .
  • The cemetery on Borchener Strasse "am Westernthor, at the so-called quarry on the way to Borchen" was occupied from 1835 to the end of the 19th century.
