Jewish cemetery in Puclice

The Jewish Cemetery Puclice is a Jewish cemetery about one kilometer southwest of Puclice (German Putzlitz ), a municipality in the Plzeňský kraj region in southwest Bohemia .

history

In 1724 there were four Jewish families in Puclice with a total of 29 people. The cemetery , located southwest of Puclice on the edge of the forest, was laid out in 1750. There was a Chewra Kadischa to which besides the Jews from Puclice and Staňkov also Jews from Horšovský Týn (German: Bischofteinitz) and Koloveč (German: Kolautschen) belonged.

Even before 1870 there was a synagogue association in Puclice, which had built a synagogue there by the village pond, which existed until 1975 and was then torn down. Kehillah Staňkov was founded in 1870 . Initially, Staňkov was a subsidiary of Horšovský Týn. But in 1890 Horšovský Týn was annexed to the municipality of Domažlice (German: Taus). In addition to Staňkov itself, the community of Staňkov included the Jews of Puclice, Nový Dvůr (German: Neuhof), Velký Malahov (German: Großmallowa) and Lštění (German: Elschtin). In 1910 there were 41 Jews, in 1922 there were only 33 Jews in the community.

In 1930 there were 2 Jews in Puclice and 30 in Staňkov. The last Jewish burial in this cemetery took place in 1942.
