Jewish schoolhouse (Diemeringen)
The Jewish school building in Diemeringen , a commune in the Bas-Rhin department in the French region of Grand Est , was built from 1853 to 1862. The school building at 9 rue du Vin, right next to the synagogue , has been classified as a monument historique since 1999 .
Since the synagogue had to be restored after a fire in 1906, the Jewish community was forced to sell the schoolhouse. The Diemeringen community bought the building and at the same time rented it for a symbolic franc to the Jewish community for use as a school.
In the school house there was also the teacher's apartment and a mikveh , which is still preserved today.
