Jürgen Ahsbas (born January 12, 1766 in Steinburg , † 1849 in Bohemia ) was a German horse dealer.

Live and act

Jürgen Ahsba's ancestors originally came from the parish of Heiligenstedten , where they had lived since the middle of the 17th century. The grandfather Jürgen Ahsbas moved to Steinburg after the death of his wife. Jürgen Ahsbas had a father of the same name (1734-1818), a mother named Margaretha, née Dorns (1747-1818) and eight siblings.

Jürgen Ahsbas followed his father's example and worked as a horse dealer. Work horses from this region were considered the best coach horses from European breeding , especially after the wars of liberation . Numerous horses were sold to Italy and Bohemia. Ahbas acquired Holstein geldings in the Elbmarschen , which he exported to Bohemia. This made him a great fortune, with which he acquired the Zdiby manor , where he moved.

At his new residence near Prague he married the noble Anna Przibislawsky. The couple had four sons and two daughters. His brother Lütje (1783-1884) later also moved to the area and married into the Przibislawsky family. He imported Holstein carriage horses here, which brought him wealth and great reputation.

Jürgen Ahsbas' son Friedrich (1810–1879) became Austrian major general and in 1852 was ennobled by the lance as a knight Ahsbas ; his other son Ludwig also became an Austrian officer and died as a major in 1858.

Another Ludwig Ahsbas (born June 25, 1823), postman, property owner and mayor in Brandeis on the Elbe , was ennobled in 1874 as Ashba's nobleman of Ravenna .
