history
The first written mention of the monastery of St. Katharina in the village belonging to the New Town of Prague took place in 1266. During the Hussite Wars, Zdiby came to secular owners from 1420. Count Radetzky von Radetz, who also owned Přemyšlení, belonged to them from the 17th century. Zdiby was on the Old Post Road, which ran north from Prague.
After the abolition of patrimonial Zdiby formed a parish in the Karlín district from 1850. In 1875 the brewing family Martin and Marie Stejskal from Smíchov bought the castle including the brewery, brickworks and the land for 175,000 guilders. In 1890 the new castle brewery started production. From 1928 the municipality belonged to the Praha-venkov district. From 1946 the community came to Okres Praha-sever and since 1961 it belongs to Okres Praha-východ. In 1948 the “community of heirs Josef Stejskal, Zdiby” was expropriated and their property was nationalized.

During the communist rule, the inventory from the Renaissance period, including the paintings, was destroyed. It later served as a boarding school for apprentices and was later transferred to the music fund, which carried out reconstruction measures.
