Stříbrná Skalice (German Silber Skalitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 19 kilometers southeast of Říčany , five kilometers west of Sázava and belongs to the Okres Praha-východ .

Stříbrná Skalice is located on the north bank of the Sázava (German: Sasau or Sazawa ).
Neighboring towns include Chocerady in the south and Sázava in the east.
history
Stříbrná Skalice was first mentioned in writing in 1361. A Romanesque St. James' Church was built in the 12th century in the district of Rovné (Rovná) by monks from the Sázava monastery. The development of Stříbrná Skalice was influenced by the nearby silver mining. The town's castle was destroyed in 1403 by an army of Sigismund ; the lord of the castle Radzig Kobyla had to flee. The baroque church of St. John of Nepomuk was built in 1730 on and from the remains of this castle, of which only sparse remains have survived today. From the end of February to May 8, 1945 , around 30 refugees from Goschütz (later Goszcz ) lived in the school on the village square.

The Stříbrná Skalice station named after the place is located outside the municipality, in Chocerady , on the southern Sázava side on the Kolín – Čerčany railway line .
