Vodochody (German Wodochod ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located eight kilometers southeast of Kralupy nad Vltavou and belongs to the Okres Praha-východ .
geography
Vodochody is on the right side of the Vltava on the Bohemian table in the valley basin of the Máslovický potok. To the north of the village is the airfield and the site of the military aircraft manufacturer Aero Vodochody .
Neighboring towns are Postřižín and Odolena Voda in the north, Dolínek and Panenské Břežany in the northeast, Hoštice and Klíčany in the east, Drasty and Klecany in the southeast, Větrušice in the south, Libčice nad Vltavou in the southwest, Máslovice in the west and Zlončice in the northwest.
history
Archaeological finds show that the area was settled in the Neolithic Age . The first written evidence of the village can be found in a document from Duke Boleslav II from the year 1000, in which he donated the village to the Insula monastery. The village was devastated during the Thirty Years War. The festivals and the manor house went out. In 1671 the Jesuit College of St. Kliment in the old town of Prague owner of the village.
After the abolition of patrimonial Vodochody formed a parish in the Karlín district from 1850. In 1919 the company AERO Vodochody was founded for the military aircraft requirements of the newly founded Czechoslovakia . From 1928 the municipality belonged to the Praha-venkov district. From 1946 the community came to Okres Praha-sever and since 1961 it belongs to Okres Praha-východ. In 1961 Hoštice was incorporated.
