To the south of the village there are several disused quarries, in the west clay pits are operated.

Neighboring towns are Kozovazy in the north, Nový Dvůr in the northeast, Vykáň in the east, Černíky in the southeast, Břežany II and Tuklaty in the south, Tlustovousy and Horoušany in the southwest, Jirny in the west and Nehvizdy and Nehvízdky in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of Wissegoreuiric took place in 1178, when Duke Soběslav II left the Vorwerkshof, which had previously belonged to the Lords of Vratišov, to the collegiate chapter on the Vyšehrad . The village, laid out with a regular floor plan, was probably created during the course of colonization in the second half of the 13th century. The church was built in the 14th century and a mighty castle with a prismatic tower was built on the forecourt, which became the seat of the Vladiken of Vyšehořovice. The village was partly owned by the chapter, the other part belonged to the fort. The settlement of Kozowaz has also been documented since 1391 .

At the end of the 14th century, the church part had also come to the Vladiken von Vyšehořovice. After Prokop von Vyšehořovice had moved his seat to Nehvizdy, the citizen of Prague's old town Zikmund Rokycanský († 1413) became the owner of the castle. In the following hundred years, the owners of the Vladikensitz changed several times. In 1524 the New Town and Old Town of Prague bought the goods as joint property. Three years later, Vyšehořovice came to the new town when the two towns were separated. Because of his participation in the anti-Habsburg uprising, Ferdinand I confiscated their property in 1547. Vyšehořovice became part of the Bohemian crown rule Přerov nad Labem and from then on the castle was no longer used as a residence, but as a farm. In 1601 Maria Magdalena von Lobkowicz received the goods as a pledge for a loan to the war chest and from 1608 Vyšehořovice belonged to her husband Jan Rudolf Trčka von Lípa , the owner of the Kounice estate . During the Thirty Years War the village was devastated by the troops of the Swedish general Banér . In 1665 the parish went out, it was renewed in 1765 and a new church was built in the years 1769–1770. From 1760 the Liechtensteiners were the owners of the village. In 1799, Marshal Suvorov's Russian army set up winter quarters in the area while retreating from Italy and Switzerland.

After the abolition of patrimonial Vyšehořovice formed from 1850 a political municipality in the district of Český Brod . Since 1961 the municipality belongs to Okres Praha-východ.

Community structure

The municipality Vyšehořovice consists of the districts Kozovazy ( Kosowas ) and Vyšehořovice ( Wischerowitz ) and the settlement Župava.

  • Ruins of the Romanesque-Gothic church of St. Martin, next to the new church. It was consecrated in 1329 by the auxiliary bishop of Prague Přibyslav. In 1677 the church burned down together with the bell tower. Since the parish was abolished in 1665 and the village was parish after Bříství , the church was not rebuilt
