Dřísy (German Dries ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located seven kilometers north of Stará Boleslav and belongs to the Okres Praha-východ . The vineyard of St. Wenceslas ( Svatováclavská vinice ) on the Cecemina was the oldest vineyard in Bohemia.

geography

Dřísy is located on the right bank of the Elbe at the southern foot of the Cecemina ridge (238 m). Lake Lhota lies southeast of the village, and Křenek quarry pond to the west. The railway runs south from Lysá nad Labem to Mělník , and the road from Stará Boleslav to Mělník.

Neighboring towns are Čečelice and Konětopy in the north, Sudovo Hlavno and Kostelní Hlavno in the east, Hlavenec in the southeast, Lhota and Křenek in the south, Kostelec nad Labem and Rudeč in the southwest, Ovčáry and Nedomice in the west and Všetaty in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of the village and the vineyard on the Cecemina took place in 1052 when it was donated by Břetislav I to the chapter in Stará Boleslav . The Cecemina vineyard was laid out under the first Přemyslid princes and is considered the first vineyard in Bohemia. The village remained subordinate to the chapter until the middle of the 19th century. There was a large manor house in Dřísy, which died out as a result of the Thirty Years' War. During the re-Catholicization, Dřísy lost most of its inhabitants who emigrated from Bohemia. The remaining inhabitants secretly continued to practice their evangelical faith. In 1694 a school opened in the village. In 1729 the dean of Altbunzlau had Frik on the vineyard of St. Wenzel build a chapel according to plans by Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer . In addition to viticulture, the residents lived from growing vegetables. In 1818 the historic vineyard was given up.

After the abolition of patrimonial Dřísy and the associated Kapitularhof north of Nedomitz formed a municipality in the Karlín district from 1850 and in the Brandýs nad Labem district from 1906. In 1873, after the construction of the Austrian Northwest Railway , the Dřísy station was built in the fields one and a half kilometers southwest of the village. The vegetable market opened at the train station enabled the agricultural products to be sold in the industrial areas of northern Bohemia. Construction began along the road from the village to the train station. In 1905 an unsuccessful attempt to resume viticulture by planting Mělník vines began on two small areas with the support of the Old Bunzlau Chapter . With the parceling of the Kapitularhof during the land reform of 1921, the last remains of the vineyard became extinct.

In 1961 Dřísy had the highest population in its history with 917 inhabitants. From January 1, 1961 Dřísy belonged to Okres Mělník and since 2007 to okres Praha-východ . In the 1970s, a large farm was built at the train station on the site of the vegetable market, and another was built on the northeastern outskirts.
