history
Originally the area on the old trade route from Prague to the north was densely forested. The ascent from the Vltava valley to the Topolánek hill was difficult to cope with for the heavily loaded wagons and they had to reposition themselves. The Topolánek was also a favorite spot for predators who could easily find prey here.
The first written mention of Sedlec comes from the year 1173. At that time the village, consisting of two farmyards, a vineyard and ten chalets, belonged to the Strahov monastery . Sedlec remained monastic property until 1410. During the Hussite Wars , the Prague soldiers conquered Sedlec and Bořanovice . Later the village belonged to the old town of Prague . Around 1541 the Bořanovský von Bytíška received the village as a fief. After the urban uprising of 1547 Sedlec was confiscated. This is followed by frequent changes of ownership. The village was devastated during the Thirty Years War. In the 17th century the nunnery of St. George was transferred to the Hradschin monastery and connected to the monastic estates in Panenské Břežany . After the abolition of the monastery in the course of the Josephine reforms, Sedlec belonged to the Panenské Břežany rule. The residents lived from agriculture.
From 1850 Sedlec formed with the districts Bořanovice and Pakoměřice a political municipality in the Karlín district. In 1922 Bořanovice and Pakoměřice formed their own municipality. From 1928 the Sedlec belonged to the Praha-venkov district, from 1946 to Okres Praha-sever and since 1961 to Okres Praha-východ. In 1887, a black leaf epidemic broke out in the village, killing several people. During the time of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia , 17 residents were killed by the German occupiers.
