Jevany (German Jewan ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located eleven kilometers east of Říčany and belongs to the Okres Praha-východ .
geography
Jevany is located in the Central Bohemian Highlands in the middle of a beech forest . The Jevanský creek flows through the place, which is dammed in a cascade of ponds and flows into the Sasau river in Stříbrná Skalice . The Jevanský rybník pond is located in the immediate vicinity of the village.
Neighboring towns are Kozojedy in the north, Kostelec nad Černými Lesy in the northeast, Prusice and Nučice in the east, Konojedy in the southeast, Černé Voděrady in the south, Struhařov in the southwest, Svojetice in the west and Louňovice and Vyžlovka in the northwest.
history
The village was first mentioned in 1415.
In the 1920s, Jevany developed into a popular weekend settlement for the Prague upper class. This reputation was established by the architect Josef Fanta and the writer Gabriela Preissová , who were the first to settle here.

Personalities
A number of prominent Czech artists lived in Jevany, such as Karel Svoboda until his death and Karel Gott from 1969 to 2005.
The graves of the director Jan Špáta (1932–2006) and Karel Svoboda are located in the Aldašín forest cemetery .
